FINAL EXAM  TEST  Information
Math 1540 Calculus I Online -Testing Instructions

(READ VERY CAREFULLY !)

Students,c

Reminder  the FINAL EXAM test is scheduled for Monday 12-3-18 or Tuesday 12-4-18 ONLY!
(NO OTHER OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE UNLESS WE HAVE TALKED!)

The final exam is comprehensive and will consist of questions from material covered in the entire course!

THERE IS ONLY 1 ATTEMPT FOR THIS TEST!

THE FINAL EXAM HAS TO BE TAKEN IN A PROCTORED ENVIRONMENT. I recommend taking the Final Exam with the online test proctoring service called ProctorU because you will have more options to take the test online. The test proctoring services on campus is limited to the days and times you can take it with them. Also they will require advanced notice. I think the proctor fee for ProctorU is about $20. To me its well worth it because it allows you to take the test anytime while its open. Also you get to take it on your own computer like you have been doing during the semester. Your computer does have to meet ProctorU requirements. You could also save money on gas with ProctorU if you are traveling to campus.

You can take the test on the Statesboro campus (EGC Statesboro center on HWY 301 South. Phone: 912-623-2400 for directions) but note the limited days and times (below) when you signup. If you want to take the test on the Swainsboro or Augusta campus send me an email (kbarrs@gmail.com) and I'll forward the contact info to you.
NOTE SWAINSBORO OR AUGUSTA CAMPUSES USUALLY REQUIRE 48 HOURS NOTICE WITH LIMITED SEATING SPACE.

An email message will be sent to you about a week before the test date to give instructions on how to sign up for a time to take the final exam.
Be sure and look out for this email message!

SIGN UP  AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
IF YOU DON"T SIGN UP FOR A TIME SLOT THERE WILL NOT BE A TEST FOR YOU!

IF YOU SIGN UP TO TAKE THE TEST IN STATESBORO on
MONDAY 12-3-18 or TUESDAY 12-4-18
COME TO ROOM # H196  at  4 PM or 5 PM
IN THE EGC Statesboro BUILDING
HWY 301 South.
Call 912-623-2400 for directions.

YOU SHOULD NOT MISS ANY OF YOUR OTHER CLASSES TO TAKE THIS TEST!

MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY FOR THE TEST.

Remember tutoring is available if you need it.

BE SURE AND BRING YOUR CALCULATOR FOR THE TEST.  (Sorry no cell phones or computers are allowed to be used as calculators.
I think the ACE tutorial center will lend a calculator if you need one. )

Practice problems are available on the course website. Of course you should do this to get more practice getting ready for the test and to see if you are ready for the test.

Practice test problems are also available on MyMathLab like the homework but instead of clicking on the "Homework" tab you will click on "Quizzes & Tests" tab. The MyMathLab site grades the practice problems for you to get feedback on how well you know the material. Continue to do the practice problems until you get a good score!

USUALLY IF A STUDENT DOES WELL PRACTICING FOR THE TEST AND HOMEWORK THEN THEY DO WELL ON THE TEST.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BRING A PHOTO ID WITH YOU WHEN YOU COME TO TAKE THE TEST.

I MUST have proof of identification to let you take the test.  Drivers license or a student id card is fine.

I would also look over the course syllabus for additional information.

I WOULD SUGGEST PRINTING THIS EMAIL.

Finals Week
  • When is your Final Exam ?        CHECK THE BOTTOM OF THIS WEBSITE FOR THE SCHEDULE !
  • EVERYONE MUST TAKE THE FINAL EXAM!
  • I recommend studying your old tests and practice tests
(both on the class website and MyMathLab) to prepare for the final.
You should also study anything we did in class. (Class Notes, Textbook, online quizzes, etc.)
  • I think it is a good idea to "spread out" your study time. For example study a test per day.

Don't just study the night before the final!
  • The final exam will consists of either 33 or 50 multiple choice questions. (3 or 2 points each)   100 points total !
Don't assume the final exam is easy because it is multiple choice !
  • Be sure and get the formula sheet (if there is one) from above and practice with it as you study for the final.
  • Your final grade will be calculated as follows:

Add your 3 test scores + 3*(midterm) +  your homework grade + 3*(your final exam score) + bonuses
  • _______________________________________________________________________________ = Final grade
  •                                                                  1000 points
  • You do NOT need to bring a Scranton I will provide one.
  • DON'T FORGET YOUR CALCULATOR !!        (I can't allow students to share calculators during the final exam.)
  • Cell phones are not allowed as calculators
  • Do your scratch work neatly. You may need to go back and look over a previous problem!
BE SURE TO USE A PENCIL ! (You may need to erase some work you do.)
  • Send me an email if you need to contact me before the final exam. kbarrs@gmail.com
